LOS CEREZOS DE YANGUAS Rural Tourism Centre is only 100 metres from the turnoff at the entrance to Yanguas, towards the abandoned village of Diustes and its thousand-year-old beech forest. This serene building, which used to house the Spanish Civil Guard, was built with slabs made out of stone from the area. It is arranged around a courtyard which has been converted into a beautiful garden containing the famous cherry trees (cerezos) which lend our house its name. At LOS CEREZOS DE YANGUAS RURAL RURAL TOURISM CENTRE you can enjoy relaxing, talking or reading next to the fireplace in the library, after visiting the Icnitas archaeological sites, wandering aimlessly in the abandoned villages, picking mushrooms or bathing in natural pools.

WHERE NATURE REAWAKENS EVERY MORNING FEEL THE SOUNDS AND SMELLS OF THE FOREST. WAKE UP WITH THE SUN, GO UP TO THE MOUNTAINS TO REDISCOVER YOUR ORIGIN, GO BACK TO NATURE. Recharge your batteries with the energy released by the growing trees. Admire, from the peaks, the colourful tapestry formed by beech woods, pine groves, oak and holm-oak woods. Spot the heather and the rock rose, and appreciate how the sun plays with their colours. If you walk around this paradise, you will undoubtedly find what you are searching for. WHERE YOU WILL HEAR THE ROAR OF LIFE. IN THE AUTUMN, THE EARTH SHAKES. IT IS THE BERREA SEASON, WHEN THE STAGS CLAIM THEIR TERRITORY AND THEIR FEMALES WITH THEIR CALLS. The stags compete to perpetuate their line. You can hear their cries of war from sunset to the depths of the night. Their howls will chill you to the bone, and their violent lunges at each other will make the mountains shake. WHERE YOU WILL FEEL THE GRIFFIN VULTURES' ARROGANT FLIGHT. Watch the huge vultures nesting in the Yanguas rocks. Their huge dimensions and fierce appearance contrast with their elegant gliding. You can also observe other birds, such as black kites, short-toed eagles and, if you are lucky, the only registered couple of royal eagles in the area. WHERE THE PUREST WATER BURSTS FORTH FROM HIDDEN SPRINGS. Waterfalls, natural pools, medicinal springs, creeks, ancient waters, springs which water crops through century-old channels and dykes. Waters from the melting snow in the mountains. WHERE YOU CAN TAKE PART IN THE CALM AND QUIET LIFE OF GOOD PEOPLE, WITH THEIR ANCIENT TRADES, FESTIVALS AND CUSTOMS. LOS CEREZOS DE YANGUAS RURAL TOURISM CENTRE definitely meets all expectations for an exceptional time of leisure for both nature lovers and travellers who want the peace and quiet of towns and villages without giving up any modern comfort or the best services and care. WHERE THE STONES ARE MEMORY, PAST ECHOES RETURNING TO THE PRESENT. Dinosaurs used to wander these lands millions of years ago, leaving us their footprints trapped in the rocks. Celtic settlements can be found between the rocks. You can walk on the Roman road built to link Calahorra with the insurgent Numantia. The remains of Yanguas Castle will evoke a thousand stories form the time of the Reconquest, when Christians were trying to win Spain back from the Moors. San Miguel tower, the first Romanesque building in Castile-Leon, is still a mute witness of the arrival of new French religious orders in Spain, through Catalonia and La Rioja. The houses with their coats of arms, the mansions and the rich churches whisper mediaeval songs about the locals and the past splendour of the Mesta area, and will invite you to enjoy the peace and quiet of its streets and its friendly inhabitants.
